Kevin McKenzie began his career as an apprentice with the Ginger Group in Sloane Square, Chelsea, London – their flagship store. Kevin rose quickly through the ranks to be personal junior to Artistic Director of the time, Alex Hilliard. Kevin took part in numerous fashion shoots for Vogue, Harpers & Queen, Cosmopolitan and Over 21, as well as many fashion shows.
Some of Kevin’s personal clients from those early days included David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, some of the long-haired lads from Iron Maiden, Maria ‘Poly Styrene’ from X-Ray Spex, actress Claire Bloom, and the UK’s best-selling cookery author and TV presenter Delia Smith.
Kevin then moved to Andre Bernard Oxford Street London as Artistic Director, responsible for cutting edge fashion shoots for Miss London and Hair Magazine, as well as training and developing staff for competitions.
After running his own successful salon in London for many years, and then operating freelance, working with professional clientele in the heart of the City of London, Kevin was inspired to move sunnier shores.
In 2002 Kevin landed in Sydney, Australia. After developing a large following and learning about the industry here in Australia, Kevin has now launched his exciting new salon – Kevin McKenzie Hair London.
With his charm and south-east London edge, Kevin will make you feel welcome and wonderful in his salon that’s a little bit of luxurious London in the heart of stylish Sydney.
